Nellie McClung program to continue at three sites

Dear parents, guardians and families,

This letter is intended to provide updated information regarding the Nellie McClung program. Thank you to everyone who has joined in the discussion and provided feedback.

The Nellie McClung program will continue to be offered at Avonmore, Bannerman and Oliver schools for the 2015-2016 school year. Enrolment in the program will be monitored on an ongoing basis.

Edmonton Public Schools promotes all district alternative programs in a number of ways – online at www.epsb.ca, in district publications such as the Edmonton Public Schools’ Quick Guide and as part of an annual Open House promotional campaign. Additional promotion of alternative programs is often coordinated and paid for by parent associations to supplement the District’s advertising efforts.

An Assistant Superintendent has been assigned to work with district leaders to review the existing regulation that governs publicizing programs and to explore additional methods of promotion that could have a positive impact on alternative programs.
